“IT CAN BE DONE IN SOFTWARE !”
Abstract: We review the invention of the Kalman Filter and the subsequent evolution of the GPS (Global Positioning System) to explain the claim of the title, that the existence and functioning of modern complex large-scale systems is crucially dependent on directions issued by a computer that is governed by software based on “mathematical” principles.
